JON EVAN GLASER
Substrate Gallery featured the landscape photographs of Jon Evan Glaser. This will be the artist’s first U.S. exhibit outside his current home state of Florida. Florida State exhibitions include Art Palm Beach in January 2015 at the Palm Beach County Convention Center and Art Basel in December 2014 at the Spectrum Venue in Miami, both as part of the Irreversible Project; The Boca Raton Museum of Art 2014 Biennial Exhibition; the Palm Beach Photographic Centre; Delray Beach Center for the Arts; Gab Studio, and Art Fusion Gallery in Miami; Gallery 101 and the Karen Ledbetter Gallery in Fort Lauderdale. Glaser is also a signature member of the Boca Raton Museum Artist’s Guild and his work is regularly featured at the members’ gallery.
Additionally, Glaser has been the recipient of a number of awards, including a Silver Award at this year’s PX3 Prix de la Photographie Paris and his work has been featured in several publications, including Black & White magazine.
Glaser traded the creativity and artistry of general dentistry to utilize the same characteristic traits in photography when a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis forced an early retirement from practicing. Weather, foreground interest, perspective, and the play of shadow and light are the elements Glaser focuses on when composing an image. He has traveled extensively to hone his craft, visiting such natural wonders as Yosemite, Yellowstone, Grand Teton and Glacier National Parks in the U.S. and Banff in Canada, along with the Smokey Mountains, Death Valley, the coastlines of Maine and Oregon, and Iceland and Hawaii.
“There is something fulfilling about capturing a moment in time…particularly as the sun makes its first or last appearance,” Glaser said. “My photographs reflect an affinity for movement and sound; the latter reminiscent of a song, starting calmly, building strength, power and energy, until the shutter releases and the image is recorded as the ultimate crescendo.”
